Blackpink’s Lisa makes history as MAC’s newest global brand ambassador.

Updated: Jun 14, 2021

Lisa (Lalisa Manoban) has made history as the first K-Pop star to be announced as a MAC global brand ambassador. This is indeed a historical event for the girl group’s lead rapper and dancer but not the first for Blackpink collectively as the Korean super-girl group’s videos receive not only millions but recently, impressively, a billion views for the single “Boomboyah”.

The Thai-born multitalented Lisa has worked hard to make her a name for herself in the music industry and at the tender age of 14 became a trainee at the Korean music label YG. Truly an empowering role model and symbol of the diverse, inclusionary values that MAC represents, Lisa is a perfect fit to further MAC’s global recognition.

“I have always been a big fan of MAC! I like how the brand turns makeup into a form of self-expression, which always gives me great confidence on stage. Together with MAC, I am excited to invite and empower more audiences as we both have individuality and diversity at our core.” Lisa said in a press release statement.

The announcement was made on Instagram with Lisa featuring her signature blunt bob, glittery winged liner and off course slicking on MAC’s Powder Kiss Lipstick in the shade “Mull It Over”. Fronting the Holiday 2020 campaign, this is no small achievement for Lisa.

Lisa further talked about the announcement, “MAC is truly at the forefront of trendsetting. It’s an honour to partner with a brand with such an incredible heritage and unrivalled expertise in makeup artistry. I am thrilled and looking forward to this journey.”

Indeed, MAC is one of the few truly global brands that embraces and celebrates ambassadors from all Races, all Genders and all Ages. Historically MAC has always been the pioneer of the makeup industry, embracing transgender, drag queens and all types of multi-faceted ambassadors, but Lisa is their first K-Pop star. This is testament to the rising global popularity of K-Pop and a recognition of the Korean beauty industry, not just as a faddish trend but as part of the greater global beauty community. MAC’s collaboration with Lisa is further showing the world that beauty is truly a multi-dimensional perspective.
